Worry Less, Do More

Worrying about what other people think of you can be very mentally draining. What if I fail, what if my best isn't good enough, what if no one likes what I have to say. These "what-ifs" are what hold us back and prevent us from doing the things we love. We constantly look for reassurance from other people, even though half the time we've already made up our mind. Maybe this starts at a young age when we're told that we need to do something a certain way because that's the way everyone else does it. Or you shouldn't do that because how do you know it's even going to work out. We constantly have that voice in the back of our minds telling us, "What are people going to think of you?".

Have you ever heard the saying, "You Are Your Own Worst Critic?" Well, it's true. I'll be the first to admit when I started this blog I didn't tell anyone close to me. I kept it to myself because I was afraid of what they would think. I didn't believe in myself enough and let my own foolish insecurities take over. If you're constantly worried about what other people think, you will never get to where you want to go in life or do what's right for you.

At the end of the day, it's impossible to please everyone. You are the only person who needs to approve of your choices. There will always be people that don't like you, and that's okay. It took me a while to get to the point where people's opinions of me didn't matter. Was it just something that happened overnight? No. The best part? I'm no longer afraid of sharing my personal stories, experiences, successes, failures, and struggles along the way. You get one shot at this crazy life, so spend it according to your own standards and dreams.

  3. Amen to this! It's so true, we are always our own worst critic. And really why are we always trying to please others?? This is something I always try to remind myself of whenever I feel that self doubt creeping in. I'm so happy to see you back in the blog world!!

    1. I'm so glad that you can relate, Jackie. We sometimes end up doing more harm than good to ourselves by overthinking the smallest things. It's so good to be back! Thank you for the warm welcome :)
